Josh Cook produced a storming performance during the first qualifying session of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season at a wet Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire this afternoon, Saturday, 8th May, to deliver a deserved front-row start for BTC Racing for the opening race of 2021.
Rapid throughout the day, having been second fastest in the first of two free practice sessions, Cook only just missed out on pole position by a mere 0.053 seconds with a superb final lap of 1m18.358 seconds on a very greasy track surface.
Dan Cammish, making a guest appearance this weekend for BTC Racing, was 12th fastest on his maiden outing with the Brackley team – seventh quickest Independent – with a best time of 1m20.393 seconds. Jade Edwards ended her first BTCC qualifying run around Thruxton 17th fastest with a time of 1m21.274 seconds, 12th Independent and third of the Jack Sears Trophy contenders.
Round one of the BTCC season is scheduled to get underway at 11.40 tomorrow, Sunday, 9th May, with round two following at 14.35 and round three concluding the day’s track action at 17.20. All three Thruxton races are to be contested over a distance of 16 laps.
All of the action will be broadcast live on ITV4, online through the ITV Hub and at www.itv.com/btcc
