Three outright race wins, multiple podiums, a maiden pole position and championship victory in the Jack Sears Trophy – it’s fair to say the 2020 Kwik-Fit British Touring Car Championship season was a very successful one for BTC Racing.
As we prepare to head into year three of BTC Racing, now is as good a time as any to reflect on the team’s sophomore BTCC season where Josh Cook, Tom Chilton and Michael Crees delivered some exceptional performances.
Throughout the 2020 campaign, which of course didn’t begin until August due to the initial coronavirus lockdown, the team’s immaculately prepared three Honda Civic Type-R FK8 cars enjoyed some great successes.
Cook, who is back to lead BTC’s title challenge this year, ended last season ninth in the overall championship with three wins and one other podium and made history for the team with its first ever pole position at Croft in October. In the Independents Trophy, he was sixth in the standings.
Crees, also back with BTC Racing for 2021, chalked-up 13 outright points finishes and in the Jack Sears Trophy class he dominated – scorching to 12 wins and six other podiums, winning the title by 48 points. Chilton was fourth in the Independents battle and 10th in the overall standings.
